For most of Trent's childhood Christmas was a difficult day. The people, the excitement and the anxiety of opening gifts sent him into sensory overload. He would spend Christmas in his grandparents room by himself and we would bring him one present at a time, every 15-30 minutes. Today, Trent loves Christmas and stays in with the family most of the time. He's still more interested in his gifts than anyone else's but he shows so much patience and tolerance and everyone in the family watches to see how he will react to each gift. To get the gift that sends Trent into a giddy, stimming, laughing fit is the best gift we get each year.
